My Personal Style (UPDATED)

Welcome back to It's Bria's Business!! I am taking a Fashion Journalism Course in school so this is the first of a series of posts from class, hope everyone will enjoy the more frequent content (I know I am VERY EXCITED).

After two full years in college for fashion I still do not know what my personal style is. I think because of my love for fashion I appreciate it in all forms, making it hard to pin-point one exact style.

I guess having multiple styles is my style in a way...

After much thought, there are two main ways that I describe my sense of style, the first being "trendy with a twist" and the second "girly with an edge".

TRENDY WITH A TWIST

I follow the trends and I am not ashamed of it but I do it with class. I love taking one trend, for example hair clips, but making it my own. This recently has been my go-to thing since I cut about 10 inches off my hair because I now have NO IDEA what to do with my hair. When my hair was long I always had it braided or up in some way and now that it is short I have turned to the trend of hair clips.

The thing I like about following trends is that it is 100% up to you if you want to follow the trend. There are so many trends out there that I could just straight up follow instead of taking them and innovating them a tad.

GIRLY WITH AN EDGE

A lot of people see me as a girly-girl because I am a fashion major and I dress up basically everyday, however I still have my edge from when I was a tom boy as a kid. Growing up the only reason I wore skirts and dresses was because I had to for my private school. On the weekends I had sweatpants on because I was riding quads and playing in the mud with the boys. A lot has changed since those days BUT it has impacted my style.

I love that because of my past I am able to pull off a bit more of an edged style when I want to. I can rock the combat boots (which I wear almost everyday) and rock the leather. I love adding in something unexpected or edgy to a girly outfit.

I love that my style is diverse and constantly changing. I love looking back at photos to see how much as changed. I am happy that my style is mine and something that can not necessarily be labeled.
