Hello friends and welcome back to It's Bria's Business!

Today we are going to be talking business and by business I mean fashion!!! This past semester I had the chance to be in a class called NY Immersion and I am extremely grateful for the experience (even though I complained and had a love hate relationship with it).

What is NY Immersion?

For this class I was able to go to NYFW and went to NYC every other Friday for industry visits. This seems all fun and games but on the Friday's I was not in NYC I was in class from about 9 to 3! Crazy right! During these classes we presented out industry projects. Every year the company changes and this year we had the privilege of working with the brand LOGO by QVC. I learned so so so much for this project and all of the stress and group meeting were more than worth it! I also became close friends with some of the girls in the group and what could be better than making some new friends?

NYFW & Business Casual Looks

With going on industry visits I had to get creative with my style because I am not one to normally dress professional! I tried my best and I am defiantly getting better with dressing this way and finding a new side of my style so here are some on my favorite looks. A lot of these looks are also from NYFW because we were there for 3 days and I defiantly took WAY too many pictures.

Look 1: Learning the Ropes

This outfit was for my first industry visit. We visited Merly Diamond which houses LOGO, the brand we were going to be working this all semester! I was so nervous and wanted to make sure that I had a fit to make me feel super confident. I wore black and white pants from Forever 21 (which have now become a wardrobe staple) with a simple white shirt that I believe is from The Gap. Lastly I threw on my favorite pink sandals and a matching statement necklace. I also borrowed a matching pink bag for my mom. I absolutely love how this look turned out and will defiantly be wearing it again!

Look 2: Style on a Budget

This was my outfit for my first ever NYFW show! It is very simple and elegant, and guess what, it was only $5. I was on a mission to find something super cute but also super cheat. My first thought was to go to a thrift store but I knew I wanted something very fashionable to I ended up going to Plato's Closet. If you have never been to a Plato's Closet I highly recommend going! They have stylish clothing but it is still a thrift store and to make it even better they have all the brand names that you know and love (this jumpsuit is from Target!). This jumpsuit is a type of valor with a floral pattern. It has a deep V neckline...speaking of this I actually always wear it backwards because the back V hits the perfect spot for my body. Lastly I added my silver choker and angle wing necklace and a simple pair of black shoes.

Look 3: Spill Proof

I love love love this dress and when I spilled ketup on it at shackshake I was devastated. We had a lunch break in between shows and leave it to me to make a mess. Luckily due to the pattern of the dress the spill was hidden THANK GOD! Anyways, this maxi off-the-shoulder dress is from non other than Target (hi can you please sponsor me?). I got it a while ago and never really knew where to wear it but NYFW during the day was the perfect fit. I was very comfortable all day which is something the I always aim for. I started off this tan heels on but ended up wear my slip on because New York and heels does not end well. Also you cannot see in the picture but this dress is floor length with a slit to show off some leg!

Look 4: Back to It

This outfit...was a mess! At the time of NYFW I was on Accutane and I underestimated how sensitive it was going to make my skin. I really wanted to wear heels but that did not happen. I ended up wearing flats (not pictured) and it defiantly ruined the look. All that aside I do love this dress and how I styled everything else! This pink, open back body con dress is from Forever 21 but don't go looking for it because I got it back in high school for a sweet sixteen. I decided to take this old classic, braid my hair and throw on some trendy earnings. I loved how this look turned out, other then the shoe fiasco! This is also one of my favorite pictures form NYFW, it shows how unbelievably happy I was to be watching the shows!

Look 5: Last Minute Weather

I learned my lesson with this outfit to always double check the weather and pack extra clothes! Luckily I was in NY near a bunch of stores so I was able to go buy this pair of jeans from H&M. This was our last day in New York for the weekend and we went to the Met to see the Heavenly Bodies Exhibit. It was incredible and now I definitely want to go back for the next Met Gala Exhibit. Although this was a last minute outfit I love it and will 100% wear it again (well I actually have). Polka dots are so in and they are a great way to add a pattern for someone who normally sticks to solids like myself. I picked up this shirt from H&M when I was going back to school shopping.

Look 6: Early Holidays

So does this outfit remind anyone else of the holidays or is it just me? Besides the point I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS. This type of outfit is perfect for when the weather is transitioning from being warm to cold. I do have to say, we were blessed with having warm days while in New York. This outfit was for a normal Friday trip. This was very common for what everyone wore, it is a combination of being business professional while also adding in our sense of fashion. I believe this was the day we visited Li & Fung. This was hands down one of my favorite industry visits. They were excited to have us and taught us so so much. I am so grateful that I was able to hear from them. So for a quick overview of the outfit; the turtle neck was a Christmas present from my mom, the skirt is from Forever 21, polka dot stocking are from Target and rain-boots are from DSW.

p.s. if you are a college student looking for rain-boots I highly recommend these, I love them because they do not ruin a outfit and still look fashionable!

As always thank you for taking time out of your day and reading my blog!
